Epoche: Estonian Alternative Rock (2013–2017)

Epoche was an Estonian alternative rock band active between 2013 and 2017. Known for their atmospheric sound and introspective lyrics, they emerged during a vibrant period for the independent music scene in Estonia.

Musical Style and Influence

The band’s sound was characterized by a blend of alternative rock, post-rock elements, and indie sensibilities. Their name, likely derived from the philosophical concept of Epoché (the suspension of judgment), reflected the thoughtful and often ethereal nature of their compositions.

Band Members

The band’s lineup evolved over time, but the most established iteration featured a “supergroup” of sorts, comprising musicians active in other well-known Estonian projects:

  • Kai Anni – Vocals
  • Margus Kaare – Guitar
  • Meelik Samel – Bass
  • Märt Tomson – Drums
  • Elis Loik – Backing vocals and Keyboards

Earlier versions of the band also included notable names like Hando Jaksi (I Wear Experiment*), Margus Tammela (Under Marie), and Kristjan Oden (Winny Puhh).

Fabel Young: An Electronic Evolution (2017)

Fabel Young emerged as a creative outlet for Kai Anni and Margus Kaare to experiment with textures that didn’t quite fit the traditional alternative rock framework of Epoche. While Epoche was known for its “wall of sound” and post-rock influences, Fabel Young was a more intimate, polished, and synth-driven endeavor.
